I am not an
agitator for marriage because honestly aside from bearing children, I see no
other purpose marriage can fulfil. Some say companionship, well with that I have
little or no reservation but no one has been able to give me a genuine concrete
reason why marriage is seen as compulsory most especially in Nigeria. So recently,
I got an offer I never knew I was waiting for all along and that is to be his
baby mama. He said it in plain English; “I want you to carry my child”.
With the
influx of western ideas and ideologies into our society, it is no surprise the increasing
rate of baby mamas we have in the society. I always blamed the ladies for
agreeing to be a baby mama when there is a better position at the top of the
diamond but until I got this request, did I stop blaming the ladies.
Deep down in
my heart, I long for nothing more than to carry his child damning how society
might take it. Does that make me non-Christian?
